MANUFACTRING

Due to rapid expansion over the past year, a Manufacturing Company in Bridgend needed a bespoke course for their team leaders in order to help them develop their leadership skills. In conjunction with Training Wales the programme was specifically designed to guide the Team Leaders on a logical journey of understanding from self-perception and awareness, through the organisation’s framework and culture and onto the needs and abilities of the team.

The course was run over six months and concentrated on:

  • Understanding employment laws and diversity issues and the skills needed to mange difficult and challenging behavior.
  • The ability to carry out team talks and briefings in line with organisational procedures and provide effective communicate with colleagues and customers.
  • Understanding and map training needs and the ability to set up performance review measures and appraisals in line with organisational procedures.
  • Problem solving and decision making techniques to improve performance applied with “real life issues.”

OUTCOMES

The programme enabled the team leaders to take time out to discuss issues between departments and agree on a standardized approach for working with an effective communication strategy. Barriers between departments were broken down and actions were applied through a structured process. They also learnt some new leadership skills and an understanding of how their behavior may impact others. Productivity, efficiency and performance improved dramatically.
