Wellbeing Regeneration Limited
An engineering graduate client requested some coaching because he was frustrated that he could not get “through the door” of prospective Companies. He was lacking in confidence, self belief and direction. His lack of self -belief stemmed from a feeling of being 'not worthy' of having a decent job. His past experiences of being knocked back by endless rejection letters was reinforced by his own negative thought patterns. This caused the client to be stuck in his behaviour patterns and unable to move forward.
6 sessions of coaching were undertaken using the FIREWORKS CAREER COACHING PROGRAMME.
The programme was applied in three phases, EXPLORE, DREAM, DISCOVER.
In each phase the client was challenged to look at himself, assess his values and beliefs, understand his strengths and weaknesses, to think outside the box and create an ideas bank. Each month he was asked to carry out a number of actions to challenge his limiting beliefs that were stopping him move forward. He was also given a number of tasks and strategies for gaining valuable information on Companies and to learn how to network and access key decision makers.
By the end of the coaching programme, the client understood the importance of aligning his core values to Companies that satisfied his needs-in turn he had a clear direction of what he actually wanted to do. By focussing on the engineering sector, and specific networks he was able to communicate more effectively and his confidence had started to grow. By thinking outside of the box he gained some experience in a small Company and started to understand his own motivators and those of others. His behaviour changed from “I can’t” to “I will.” Nevertheless, this experience and on-going networking allowed him to access a “proper” job that he never thought he could previously obtain.
